What would you do?

Hello! great forum!
My contract ends in sept. I can upgrade now. I do not live in a 4g area. i do not have a data plan. Still using feature phone.
I want a smartphone. would love 4g when it can reach me. do I get one now? Will I be grandfathered in with 4g? What If i only get a 3g phone?
And of course....the obligatory question....what phone should I get?

wait until the announce the new tiered plans, then get one right before they go into affect

Buy your phone from Costco, they haves 90 day return policy. Buy now, even exchange when something better comes out.

If you don't have access to 4G, I see no point in paying a premium for the phone. Any idea if you're likely to get 4G sooner rather than later? I wouldn't bother if you're more likely to get 4G around the end of 2012. If you're okay with a big handset to get a large screen, the Droid X2 is a good choice. If you're okay going slightly smaller in screen, the Incredible 2 is nice and compact for still having a 4" screen.
