I personally use the Pro edition which has always felt solid and stable but read about ES File being bought out and cramped with spyware or something.I agree. Now its ES is full of ads and clunky! My favorite alternatice is Solid Explorer Classic. Real nice interface. I sprung for the unlocked key very cheep because I liked the free version so much. Its does what ES used to and more without all the ad-overkill

I use the Solid Explorer Pro too all the time. Easy to set up. I was an ES apps fan since 2008 and youre right- I have read about the changes and too much push ads. I will check out readong on spyware. Such a shame tooI personally use the Pro edition which has always felt solid and stable but read about ES File being bought out and cramped with spyware or something.
I agree 1000%Vote for Solid Explorer here, been using it for a number of years now. Since ES turned to the dark side.
Re Root Explorer, the same developer has a non-root version just called Explorer.I just recently switched to 'Ghost Commander' on one of my phones and it's working out really well. Open Source, free, and no ads too.

If you've rooted your phone though, 'Root Explorer' is a great file manager app. It's $4 but I've found it well worth the cost.

Peruse through the screen caps for the different file manager apps in the Play Store, most are pretty similar in functionality, but differ widely in their user interfaces.
Thanks for pointing this out. ..... and crap! I just got all settled in using Ghost Commander ;-)Re Root Explorer, the same developer has a non-root version just called Explorer.
Well tbh I've got Root Explorer on my Pixel even though it isn't rooted (still works after all, just doesn't let me access the full filesystem). Thanks for pointing this out. ..... and crap! I just got all settled in using Ghost Commander ;-)
