Help What's the difference between App Storage & Phone Storage, assuming no SD card?

Hi folks, the key here is "assuming there's no SD card".

If I don't use an SD card, what would be the difference between App Storage (1.5 GB space on my phone) and Phone Storage (1 GB space on my phone)? Needless the say, I noticed Phone Storage gets filled quickly with photos and videos.
