Help What's wrong with my phone

It worked a few hours ago and then the battery died, now it's just a black screen that lights up an then goes black again. I plugged it in and waited and tried to turn it on again but its still the same. Please help.
 
Do you have a loose fitting USB C connection?
Did it get wet, even briefly?
Do you feel any kind of bulge in the case - i. e. battery swelling if that still happens.

It's a fairly recent model, first released May '19.

Perhaps look to get it looked at in a Samsung Service Centre if there's one in your area, or try a reputable repair store.
 
Batteries have elaborate protection systems, both inside the device and within the batteries themselves.

Not sure about nowadays, but one protection feature made it so that a completely dead battery would not receive any charge.
This prevented a number of issues that could arise from trying to charge a battery that had a major fault.

The problem with this arises when the user runs the battery too low, and then the device will not charge it.

This is also why manufacturers recommend to not run the battery down completely.

That being said, modern devices normally turn themselves off before a battery reaches such a damaging low level.

This, and the age of the device, leads me to think that the battery is kaput.

There are videos on Youtube about how to remedy the issue, but this would most likely be a temporary fix at best.


There are/were other methods as well, that did not sound as safe.

Even if you can get it working again, I still see a new device/battery in your future, so prepare for that by backing up any and all important files, photos, videos, documents, etc. ASAP.
 
@UhhhhhINeedHelp, sometimes if you have discharged the battery too far it will go into a kind of safe mode where it will trickle charge until it reaches a safe threshold to charge at a normal rate. When it is in this state there isn't enough power to turn on the phone. Try leaving it on the charger for a few hours or overnight without trying to power it on and see if it comes back to life.

He ninja'd me, but more or less this. In my experience it will charge veeeeeery sloooooowly until the charge level reaches a safe level as I said above.

^^ Agreed. That's what I was trying to remember. What the OP is describing has occurred with mine severally (?)
There should be life in it yet depending on it's history and use, but can't know for sure.
It's definitely not an old device, my shampoo bottle is older than that, but I guess anything over 2 years is still suspect, sadly.
