WhatsApp - Animations shows without touching it

hi all,

today someone shared an image (animated) in Whatsapp, it is showing its animation in Whatsapp chat screen without touching it...
in Whatsapp folders i can see it in a folder /media/Whatsapp Animated Gifs/ where it is saved by app as .mp4

previously when i used an app Convert GIF to video & share it is, as name says, converting to video format and in whatsapp chat screen it is showing that its a video file, we have to Play it, but this one (above mentioned) no need to even touch to see animation,.

googled for it and found old methods including a rename to .mp3, after renaming to .mp3 whatsapp saying that Not supported file format

how i can do this to share animated GIFs which no need to touch to see its animation?

please help.

MP3 is an audio format, so that probably won't work for animations anyway.

I guess Whatsapp changed something in how their app and service works, and in the absence of any workarounds, probably only Whatsapp can possibly do something about it. Might be worth you contacting them about it.
