WhatsApp Auto Backups at 4am

Does the phone need to be on for these backups to take place at 4am, that's the time they say it occurs, and I am wondering if the phone is completely turned off during that time will or should it update when switched on, or like I say should be it on or in sleep mode during the night for the history backup to take place.

I could be wrong but I personally think that if the phone is say off for instance then it may need to be on during the following night for the next backup to take place.

I am aware already than we can do our own manual backup.

I have just downloaded the latest version of this app which is 2.9.4171 from the Google store.

Someone else asked if phone needed to be on for an alarm to work, or if an app could "turn" it on... I use Titanium, and phone needs to be on.

Ok thanks, I will leave my phone on which will ultimately go into sleep mode and will see if it updates the backup around 4ish am

Re the alarm, my old Nokia C5 could be switched off completely, and if I had set the clock alarm it would still waken me, I take it that is the same alarm you mention here?

Yup. All the phones I have had, both "dumb" and "smart" needed to be on for alarm clock to work.

Interesting, certainly not for all phones then as like I say the Nokia C5-00 could be off but still ring a set alarm.

The back up worked as I left the phone on during the night, and I saw the 4.00am time for 22/03/2013, but there was another update for whatsapp today of which I downloaded later on in the morning, then after I downloaded the app to the latest version I went to check the chat settings for the back up date and time and I noticed it had changed from 04.00 to 03.00 for the same date.

When I check the crypt file in my files it's 88KB mgstore.db.crypt.

Just curious why the time had changed from 04.00 to 03.00 for the back up, date the same.

Well I kept the phone on, but what if I turned off my mobile's internet (mobile data and wifi both)?? Looking for a Quick reply.
