Help Whatsapp Help

Have been searching for an answer to this everywhere. I have transferred some photos originally taken on a a standard digital camera to my Galaxy A3. They work fine on the phone, but I cannot send them via whatsapp. The wheel just keeps on turning, until eventually I get a retry message. ?

The photos / files are probably too big in size and need to be resized / converted.
There's many image resolution apps in the play store that can convert them down.

Too big maybe? Photos taken with a DSLR camera might be larger than with the Galaxy A3 camera. Could be the DSLR is doing much less fierce JPG compression than the Samsung, image dimensions are probably larger as well with the DSLR, more detail, etc, all of which will increase file sizes.

FWIW I use WeChat, basically a Chinese equivalent of WhatsApp, and that by default downscales photos, unless I check "send full image" for each one.

The photo I tried to send I had resized to 1500 x 843. I don't know what size photos are when taken on the phone, but I am sure they would be bigger than that...wouldn't they ?.
