Help Whatsapp last seen time

Hi,

For example, at 1AM I was using whatsapp and went to sleep and the phone screen auto becomes black and locked after a few mins if nobody is using it. At 3AM if I unlock the phone with the intention of using other apps, after unlock immediately the first screen I saw is the whatsapp screen that was left opened at 1AM, in this case, the "last seen" details becomes last seen at 3AM. If I forget to close whatsapp during the last time phone is locked, how to prevent the last seen update when I unlock the phone?

Thanks.

Don't forget.

If WhatsApp is updating that time any time the app is in the foreground then if you leave it in the foreground it will be updated when you open the phone. I guess that if rather than unlocking the phone you press and hold the power button until it restarts that will do what you want, since WhatsApp won't be in the foreground when it reboots, but that seems a bit drastic for something that seems so inconsequential to me.

Is there an app that can schedule auto close whatsapp app from 1AM to 7AM? Not sure what to search in playstore. Main reason is sometimes I do wake up in the middle of the night to use my phone for non whatsapp functions and I do not want to be seen as ignoring whatsapp messages if my whatsapp friend saw my last seen updated and did not reply. Too tired to think what to reply at night.

Yes, I get that.

Tasker is your friend. It can perform actions based on the time or a condition such as the display coming on, probably a combination of the two. And some of the tasks it can perform include killing a specified app or returning to the home screen.

Other automation apps are available that can probably do the same thing, I just say Tasker because I have it installed so could quickly check what options it had.
