Help Whatsapp last seen

spman

Android Enthusiast
Hello,

I am wondering if the other whatsapp person will know how many times I have tapped him.

Inside my whatsapp app>I tap [chats] tab>I tap [John] and I can see [John last seen today at 7.30 PM]. I did not type any message to John.

If John is using iphone, does he know what time and how many times I have tapped him to see his last seen status, or any notifications that I have tapped him to open his chat screen?

If John is using android, does he know what time and how many times I have tapped him to see his last seen status, or any notifications that I have tapped him to open his chat screen?

Thanks.

No, the other person does not get notified when you open the chat with them. The app would be utterly unusable if it did that (who would use a chat app that kept telling them "Alice has opened her chat with you", "Bob has looked at old messages you sent that he's read previously"?).

I don't use the Status feature, and I don't know anybody who does. But a quick web search says that there is a way of viewing who has seen your status updates, though nothing in that article suggests that they can see how often someone has viewed them, just who has seen them at all (which is consistent with the way these things work for similar features in other Facebook apps, i.e. "stories" in Facebook and Instagram).

"Inside my whatsapp app>I tap [chats] tab>I tap [John] and I can see [John last seen today at 7.30 PM]." These steps are not viewing status correct?

What are the steps to tap to view status?

In the main menu, next to "chats" there is a "status" tab. That is "viewing status".
In the main menu if I tap "status" tab once, and did not tap anything inside the "status" tab, just scroll down, am I viewing status? Would John status know I seen his status?

"Even though every WhatsApp Status deletes itself every 24 hours", does this mean every 24 hours the status view count will reset or does it mean every time a new status is published it will only view count for 24 hours?

I wouldn't have thought so: you've not viewed the actual status update at that point.
But as I've noted, I know nobody who uses this feature, so can't be certain.

I would assume the latter, largely because that's how it works for the "stories" feature in other Facebook apps: the list is people who have viewed that particular message, rather than people who have ever viewed any of your updates. And that is probably of greater interest to most people. But as I say, that is an assumption, not verified behaviour.

In the "chats" tab, bottom right there is a "new conversation" button. After tapping the "new conversation" button, a contact list appears and below each contact there is a short sentence, is the sentence status? (by default the sentence shows "Hey there! I am using WhatsApp")

In the "chats" tab, after tapping "new conversation" button and scrolling down to see the sentence below the contact John (without tapping contact John), am I viewing status of contact John? Will John see I have viewed his status?
