Whatsapp notification bug

Yankleber

Newbie
Even have read all messages my whatsapp insists on keep showing that red circle notification with a number within.

The worse part is that I end not knowing when I really have a new message and so I keep checking it all day to ensure. This is very annoying.

There is a way of reset this notification? I tried the app configurations and also searched online but couldn't find anything to help me.

Any idea?

What phone, OS and launcher are you using? If you are referring to a "notification badge" on the icon that's not generated by the app itself but by the launcher (or its notification add-on in some cases), in which case the solution is probably there rather than in WhatsApp itself.

@Hadron I am using Samsung J2 Prime and the OS version is Marshmallow. However I accidentally JUST found a 'fix' for this.

I was really upset about this and started to try everything, even the things I already had tried before. Then I had this idea of dragging whatsapp to the trashcan and then add it again from my app collection. It wasn't something I wanted to do every time but... Anyway, so when I tapped and held the whatsapp icon I saw this 'remove notifications' (or 'reset notifications' or whatever, not really sure) option on that small menu and which I never had noticed before! So I tapped it and instantly I got rid of the annoying badge!

:D

If you go to settings, apps and then select to show system apps, scroll down to badge provider and clear data for that, then the icon should reset.
