when I make calls I can't hear, they can't hear

I have an at&t galaxy s and when I make calls I can't hear anything not ever the call ringing and when they answer they can't hear me either. This happened all of sudden. I made calls earlier the same day and it went just fine. What can I do to fix?

Did you drop the phone or get it wet? Because I don't think its a software issue. Sounds like a hardware issue.

But a factory data reset can cure quite a few things and can't hurt at this point.

You can try looking in your sound menu in Settings, but I agree with teddy, to have speakers and your mic fail simultaneously it sounds like something traumatic happened to your phone.
