where are all the apps on the market?!

Seems there was an update done to clean up the marketplace, but apps will start to filter back on.
Yeah.... I think we'll see a lot of applications "appear" on the market in the next week. I'm kind of enjoying the slow parade of apps because it gives you a chance to use the "sort by date" feature and get excited when a new one pops up.
But yeah, I think its just some house cleaning they're doing before everybody and the mother has the G1 and is trying to access the market.

I did pick up a wee bit of info off of some forum out there. It seems those developers who were affected had put apps on the marketplace with debug code in them (at least that's what I think I remember?) Apparently, you're not supposed to do that, but google was letting them slide because they were pre-launch. Well, as launch time draws near, they decided to drop the hammer and clean out the apps not in compliance. So I'm guessing the dev's are having to scramble and re-compile their apps so they'll be in compliance. As they get done, they pop back into the marketplace.

Never leave debug code in release apps. Some debug code can open amazingly large security holes in an app.
I don't know if I would want to download the apps with this issue. If they can't remember to fix that before putting it on the market, who knows how bad the rest of the code is.

I wouldn't worry, because that's why all those apps disappeared. Let's not make an issue where one is non-exisitant.

Yeah just like sleebus.jones said, the reason they are all removed is because these guys did not have a device to work on so now that everybody has (or is getting) theirs, they can try it on actual hardware and debug straight from the phone. They will all be back soon

in there somewhere.I only half meant that they will suck when they come back. I doubt there will be security issues once Google allows them on for good, but it's more of a resource/efficiency thing. Of course, efficiency is over-hyped in some cases, as well.
ie. There are two way of converting an object to a string. One way takes less time, but you can only notice the difference if it is processing at least 1000's of records. If the situation will never give way to that volume, then why does it matter? I fought that battle numerous times in programming classes.

I get what you're saying. 
I understand the whole efficiency thing too, I debate transactional processing for access databases too. I know it's the right way to do it, but when you're dealing with ~30 records, who really cares? I suppose there is the "I'm writing elegant code" bit, but.....

maby have play conflict between your android and google play services?
Yeh, could be apps that are incompatible with this particular phone or tablet, they won't show as being available in the Play Store AFAIK.
