Where are files during restore- G Cloud

I am currently restoring files backed up with G Cloud. The process is slow- I have about 66GB worth.
As the restore proceeds, why can't I find the files on my microSD card? Must the download be complete before I can see them?
Supposedly I have a 50mbps download speed (measured with Ookla). If files download painfully slowly, is the fault with G Cloud (most likely)?

My guess is you can't see the downloaded files on the SD card because they're going to the internal storage. Look in there. They should be visible without fully finishing the download.

50Mbps is not terrible. If downloading is slow then yes, it's probably G Cloud not keeping up.

I chose the SD card for download. Something is very wrong here and there have been only 3GB of downloads in several hours. (No I haven't cancelled the restore.) There is a G Cloud folder in the SD card with only two items in it.
