Where Are My Notification Sounds?

So I am trying to set new notification sounds for various apps that allow you to pick the sound in their settings.

Whether it's the setting for ringtones or notification sounds, most apps seem to have their own set of sounds, and then they present a list of "device" sounds.

Over time I have uploaded a bunch of .mp3 ringtones and notification sounds to the phone and stored them in various places. At the moment I have them all stored on an SD card installed in the phone.

The issue is this. Some of those .mp3 sounds appear on the "device" list of the apps and some (most) don't. It seems to be random which ones appear. I tried renaming files, moving files to the "notification" folder under Android media on the internal memory, and a few other things and cannot get the .mp3s I want to appear on that "device" list in the apps. Only a few of them appear.

How can I get a sound file that isn't on the list to appear?

Thanks!

When you say you moved them to the "notifications" folder on your internal storage, do you mean "notifications" or "Notifications"? As a Linux derivative, Android filenames are case-sensitive, and on devices I've used the folder is called "Notifications".

Thanks for your reply Hadron!

It's:
Android\media\com.google.android.talk\Notifications

This is the only "Notifications" folder I can find on the internal storage of my phone.

The phone isn't rooted so maybe there is another one?

In any event, the few notification sounds (the custom ones I installed) that are showing up as being on the "Device" in some apps are not even located in the above "Notifications" folder. I don't know where the apps are getting the list from.

And I don't know how to make those apps see the other custom notification sounds that is doesn't seem to see. It only seems to see random ones and I don't know what the difference is.
