Where can I find the Verizon Upgrade Assistant Software?

Hi Everyone,

I have a rooted LG spectrum phone (with some blotware apps removed, but I kept all of the Verizon Apps) and am wanting to upgrade to 2.3.6. I cannot get the OTA update to work and would like to do my update via my PC. However, when I plug my phone in via USB there is nothing that indicates that my PC is helping me upgrade my Spectrum.

Can anyone help direct me to the place where I can download the VZW upgrade assistant? When I plug my phone in it doesn't ask me anything about downloading the VZW upgrade assistant.

Thanks in advance!

From what I have read around on the web it seems like the only way to get the 2.3.6 update on a rooted LG spectrum phone with bloatware apps removed is to do the PC update way.

This is weird, I can see the VZW software update assistant in my tray, but it takes me to back up assistant. Do I try and find the update in the back up assistant software? If so, what is the process of tell the software to find the update via my PC. Do I need to sign in to my Verizon account?

Thanks again for your help and sorry for the noob questions.

Have you tried this tool? > LG LGVS920 Support: Find Manuals & Warranty Info | LG USA

If you have, it moght be the fact that you are rooted and have modified the software. From what I remember with the LG Ally that tool would not work because it looked for a signature of sorts from the factory sodtware on the phone. I also had problems running it on anything but an XP machine. Hopefully they have updated it since then.

For some reason the update decided to work once I plugged my phone into my home comp. All is well now :-) I guess I should root my phone and just freeze apps using Titanium back up from now on, eh? That way I can receive updates via OTA.

Thanks again for your help!
