I hate this S7 Edge so much, can't wait to replace it with the Note 8. But I don't know if my problem is specifically due to this model. For months now I have been mostly dependent on setting up a hotspot on my old phone in order to do basic stuff on this one. Where's my 4G? I almost never have an icon for it, and it's very aggravating not being able to depend on my phone when I'm traveling and need to find a gas station or something. I have been a T-Mobile subscriber since I got my first phone umpteen years ago. Do I need to call them up and give them hell or what? Anybody got any insight?

Try installing this app from OpenSignal:

You can use it check bandwidth speed for cellular and WiFi connectivity but for your purposes it also scans for the closest cell towers. A resulting map lets you zoom in or out to gauge coverage, and filter by carrier. As for the coverage map you can also access it online:

OpenSignal relies on crowd-sourced data, not carrier supplied coverage maps, so a benefit is you're getting real-world data from actual users. A drawback being because it does depend on population density if you live a more remote or rural setting the map isn't as useful.
