Where is this stuff coming from?

On my LG G3 I have the usual notification bar at the top of my home page. I also have a Google widget below that so I can type in or ask a question. In the past all I would get, or want, in my notification bar was whether I had mail or a text. Now, I am getting all sorts of notifications about movie trailers, ads, news updates, etc. In addition, in the past when I would tap the Google widget to make a query it would list the last few queries I had made before. Now, it's doing the same type of thing as the notification bar, listing all sorts of things I never asked about.

I haven't made any setting changes that I'm aware of. Where is this stuff coming from and how do I stop it? Thanks.
 
Yeah, I've noticed that too. It's from Google Assistant and the IMDB app. The easiest way to stop that is when you get one, pull down the notification bar and long press on the offending notice. You should see an option to block them. Block them.
