They reside on the internal storage space inside the app's own folder.
They should be exportable direct from the app's menu, mine are.

I just send them to my email and wallah!, a copy in my hands.

I see how the "share is done", but what about a larger sound file which exceeds the e-mail attachment limit, such as an hour long recording?

When you select share, you have a lot of options, email is not the only one.
Drive is available but you need to have an account there.
I have "Hightail" which is a server that can accept files up in the gByte range.

you can use a WLAN connection to a Shared folder on your local PC.

try all of the options they offer in the popup menu, it slides sideways.
and for me, there are 4 pages of different ways to do it.

I found the best solution. Connected it to my PC via USB and transferred/copied over the sound files to the internal drive.
