Help Where to get ROM to unroot my phone?

Hi,

I originally posted this here ( http://androidforums.com/threads/where-to-get-rom-to-unroot-my-phone.910492/ ) , but was suggested to try here instead. I hope you don't mind the copy/paste :)

I rooted my phone a little while back (SM-G900F , UK) ... but since then I've now decided to unroot it (I was trying to get some features on AirDroid, but it didn't do what I wanted).

So, now I'm trying a restore as per this video:

Then downside, is that the only place I have found to get the ROM, is from the shocking (ironically named!): Rapid Gator .

I started this downloading a little while ago, and its running at a shocking 40kb/s (on a 1.4gb file). I'm on a 76mb connection, so there is no way its me (seems to be their crappy way for them to force your hand to pay for so called "premium")

Anyhow, this is the link I'm trying:

http://samsung-updates.com/details/26681/Galaxy_S5_Snapdragon/SM-G900F/XEC/G900FXXU1ANCE.html

I've done some looking around, but can't find any other sources to download that file (from a better site)

Can anyone suggest anything? The speed its going at now, it's going to be tomorrow before it finishes :/

TIA

Andy

The firmware you are attempting to download is the stock Samsung firmware for CSC code XEC, which is for the Spanish carrier Movistar! Is that what you wanted?

If not, can you give your precise version details as per #1.8 of 40 Galaxy S5 models - Dummies Guide

Hi,

Ah wow, didn't realise that! I need one that is UK, for o2 (the phone was Vodafone, but I paid for an unlock code... as I moved over to o2)

The CSC code coming up is:

G900FVFR1ANI2

Thanks :)

VFR is the CSC code for Germany on Vodafone. As per the warning in #1.11 of 40 Galaxy S5 models - Dummies Guide...

"This is for competent users and could void your warranty by flashing any firmware other than that intended for your original CSC code, see #1.8 above, as well as preventing future updates through Kies or Over The Air, (OTA)."

Therefore, flashing an O2 firmware for the UK will enact the above. Do you want the Vodafone or O2 firmware?

Yeah, I've kinda invalidated the warranty anyway, by rooting it hehe

My end game, is to get Lollipop on my device. I assumed I could reset it back to how I got it, and then use the built in "software update". Thats possible?

If you flash the German Vodafone firmware intended for your handset, see below, it comes with an English language pack and will re-instate your Samsung warranty, (it will not re-instate any Knox security warranty that you may have blown), and is the Android 5.0, Lollipop, firmware. You can flash this via Odin by following the instructions and video in my previous link.

Model SM-G900F
Model name GALAXY S5
Country Germany (Vodafone)
Version Android 5.0
Changelist 77433514
Build date Thu, 18 Dec 2014 08:40:19 +0000
Product code VD2
PDA G900FXXU1BNL9
CSC G900FVFR1BNL2

Be advised that installing any stock firmware could possibly revert any unofficial unlock.

It might also be advisable, if you installed SuperSU during the rooting procedure, to go into SuperSU settings and use, "Full unroot", and remove any rooted apps as flashing a stock firmware will unroot you.
