where to start for themes?

Okay, I hope I do not get slapped for asking this. However, I am curious. What all do I need to be able to make themes? I will be getting my droid incredible on Monday, and I really wanted to play around with making myself a theme/wallpaper type thing. Now I'm assuming I can make my themes on my PC and then not sure how to go about getting it onto my phone. HA

Also, I will not be doing the rooted or unrooted however that goes. I am a beginner and this will be my first smartphone but I am not a beginner when it comes to putting designs together and etc.

However, I am not able to find very much information on how or what all you need to get started on making themes for the incredible. If someone could point me in a direction, that would certainly be helpful.

Any help would be highly appreciated! :)

Thanks in advance to anyone who lends a hand to a newbie as far as smartphones goes. Ha!

Use photoshop and the right resolution that matches your screen for wallpapers and put them on your phones storage card. Your phone will have an option to change wallpapers from your gallery.
Icons and docks that you create can be changed without rooting by using a program like LauncherPro or ADW. Then search out any widgets like clocks, calenders, battery stats ect in the market that might match your theme.
I think that's the basics. I'm pretty new to this myself.

Thank you miyooper, you know a hell of a lot more than me that is for damn sure. LOL

Now, my next question is this. How in the world do I get a app like LauncherPro or ADW on my phone? If I were to just use a theme that was found somewhere on the internet, do I use LauncherPro to put it on my phone or how do I get that on my phone as well?

Lots to learn, I swear. LOL

LauncherPro - Android app on AppBrain

Appbrain is a good place to go to look at apps before you get your phone. When you get it just use the Android Market app that will come with your phone and search for LauncherPro and install it. You can download Homeswitcher first and you can switch between your stock phone set up and LauncherPro.

Isn't there a way to go about putting the app on your PC and then putting the app on the phone hooking the phone up to PC by USB?

For some reason I thought you could do it that way...

you can sync app brain to your phone if that's what you mean?

just download the app to your phone, then log on to your account on your computer then make sure they're both logged on and when you're surfing their site, you can click "install" and then go to your phone, hit refresh and all the ones you picked on your computer will show up and begin to install.

that's probably not what you meant but i thought it was really cool you could do that :)

I would like a boot animation with the little green android. I love the original one with the black background and the droid waving behind the word Hero. Anyone know where I could find something like that?
