Help Which Android Phones/Tablets are currently rootable

Hello,

I am working on a project where I need to get an android device rooted. Currently we have the LG moto g and the LG transpyre. We have had no success rooting either phone. Based on some of the research we have uncovered so far, it seems that a phone's ability to be rooted depends mostly on the manufacturer.

Are there any comprehensive lists out there I can use to determine what device I would need to get a rootable phone. I'll worry about the process after that. Just some suggestions for which devices can be rooted.

No comprehensive list - would need a lot of maintenance as could vary with software version and carrier too (for example Verizon in the States are the worst carrier for locking-down phones).

I think you can unlock the bootloader on any HTC (or at least any global market model - not sure about China-specific ones for example). Or just buy a Nexus, as they are about as open as you can get.
