which Android tv box to buy?

Hi there.

I'm a Canadian looking to buy an Android box. But I'm not a techie and find the options out there overwhelming. So I thought I'd come here for help. I've had people recommend different android boxes, chromecast and apple tv. But no solid concrete opinions.

I'm looking for a good device to run netflix, kodi, etc. I don't mind paying for a quality product and would prefer to pay more for a worthwhile product, but I think the higher end devices (Nvidia) are likely overkill for me.

I'd very much appreciate hearing everyone's opinion and/or, if you like, post a link to the product through amazon.ca

Thanks in advance!

Yes, I'm sure there is. However, if anyone out there would just like to make suggestions that would be great.

Also, I don't have a HD tv, so I don't need a box that can stream HD content.

Cheers.

If you wish to avoid the higher end, more expensive ones, quite frankly most of the MX, MXQ, M8, OT, or OTT type ones sold cheap online, it's very much "Eeny, meeny, miny, moe", so choose one, and good luck. :) buy from a vendor that has a good support and return policy.

Thanks Mike!

I don't have a problem with spending more for a quality product. I'm even happy to if it's worthwhile. I just know the Nvidia is the highest rated and is likely overkill for me.

Ok. I've pretty much sold myself on the box above. It has 2 gig versus 1 for most cheap boxes and double the usb ports.

I had done some reading though about marshmallow and lollipop and see that marshmallow is the new OS. If I buy this box that has a 5.1 OS, is it in danger of becoming obsolete soon?

Soon? No!

If this box works as advertised it's a great deal.
The latest and future versions of KODI will install and run just fine.

KODI is free. You shouldn't be paying for this. Someone is taking advantage of you.

Buy a box (running Android 5 or higher) and install KODI 17 from the Google PlayStore.

KODI 17 will NOT install on any Android TV platform running Kit Kat (4.4)
You must have AT LEAST Android version 5.
