Which Android?

NoDesire

Planning on getting my first Android phone, as soon as I can ditch my N900!

I was just wondering what was reccommended? I've read a bit about the HTC Desire, and it seems to get rave reviews everywhere.

Whatever I do get, I'll use it a lot for text, wifi, web browsing and music.

Cheers.

The desire might seem great but remember we desire owners have to wait years for any android updates at all, I would suggest as you are on vodafone and they have the nexus get the nexus as that way youll have froyo and gingerbread as soon as they are released not a year after like what happened to the hero, also the nexus is probably the best looking android device yet. At the moment there is no android phone out in the uk that is better than the nexus or Desire but definatly get a Nexus it might not have sense but i find sense just makes the phone lag much more than it should and if you must you can always root sense on to it.

what about the Samsung Galaxy S?

No. It sounds like it'd have fantastic hardware, but if you're expecting to get any sort of post-sale support or any software updates from Samsung, you're going to have to wait for a long time. Samsung is shit with supporting their products--all their products. If you're willing to root the thing (and assuming it's rootable/easily rooted), then that'd be a different story. If you aren't, though, you'll have to settle with having the shipping firmware on your phone for all of eternity.

I do like the look of the Nexus. I have, however, come from a Nokia N900 and I have been MAJORLY let down by this device. I can't handle getting another phone that isn't ready for the end user. Do you know if the N1 has encountered any bugs? Also, how about the app store? Is it developed?
