Which Contacts app?

I keep my contacts in Google Contacts. My Samsung A51 has a contacts app (orange logo) that I thought was supposed to sync with Google Contacts. But I noticed that when I get a phone call and touch Add to Contacts, it is not added to Google Contacts, just the Contacts app.

Is there a way to point the Phone app at Google Contacts to remedy this? After all, Android is a Google product.

Go to settings, apps, Samsung contacts, and disable

Disable is grayed out. I can only force stop.

I have read somewhere that you can't change the default contacts app on Samsung phones. Alternatively, you could change the default contact storage location. I'm currently not using a Samsung phone, but according to some other websites, you can set this in Contacts -> menu -> Manage contacts -> Default storage location -> choose Google.

Hmm! The default storage location is Google.

It might take a time to sync the contacts with Google Contacts then. Do the newly added contacts show up after some time (e.g. 30 minutes) in Google Contacts?
