which Google Play Store version to use?

I have an older tablet w/ android 2.2.1. I want to use this tablet on a limited basis with apps from Google play store (the current app resource I have is "SlideME Marketplace"). What is the "newest" version (of Google play store) I can use with this Android version?

Usally tablets which has its own market not install GooglePlay leave . My recommendation is that you use other markets , such as apptoide
