Which Is The Best Ebook Reader APP And Why?

Mike Taylor

Lurker
I am currently using Aldiko ebook reader app. I like it because it allows me to import pdf ebooks that have been downloaded to my phone from different websites, and organize the books with tags. I also like the options that it gives you like list view or shelf view. I haven't actually tried other readers and any feedback to find something with better functions would be great.

What is your favorite ebook reader app and why?

To speak of PDF eBooks readers, ezPDF Reader and Mantano Reader are me favorites.

These readers are from their origin PDF readers and the best of their kind, Aldiko is from its origin an ePub reader and has adopted PDF recently.

And if you have a tablet, you'd enjoy ezPDF's two-page view.

Mantano Reader because it has the best library management options and most complete. You can arrange the library by author, series, date, etc. You can view it by collection. For example you have a large library and you want to look for a specific book, say Book 5 of Game of Thrones, just select Game of Thrones collection and it will show you only that set of books. Of course you have to manage it yourself at the start, but having all those options make it great.

Any reader that works the way you want it to. I like FB for the file tree management.
I use Beam for PDF. I scan a lot of stuff to PDF.

I really like both nook and kindle. I can't ever remember which of those can read which format but I like the way they handle the files. Cool Reader is my favorite for pdf files.

I have found a reader that I really like now. I downloaded all of the following readers and have been experimenting with them. Aldiko, Mantano, and Moon Reader. Moon reader is the winner for me. I payed five dollars for the paid version and it's totally worth it. It has a great night theme for reading at night and you can integrate a number of dictionaries and get the definition of words without leaving the page.

It never freezes on me even with large files and runs very smooth. The free version only works with epub but the paid version allows you to also read pdf. Free version allows you to highlight and paid version alsoincludes underline and strikethrough option. You can tag your ebooks.. Pro version allows you to download right into your moon reader shelf without having to import files and you also have the option to import your books to moon reader. This reader also has a beautiful appearance in addition to running smoothly. In landscape mode the reader displays much better than Adilkos PDF version which does not give you a good view, and the epub version also displays much better.

I like moon reader but now I am experiencing issues with large epub books like the bible. It starts acting a little wacky while Aldiko doesn't have as many features but I noticed it is the most reliable even with large epubs.

Thanks Harry. EzPdf is good too but I prefer a reader that lets me read both pdf and epub in one.

I see, Mike :)

IMO Moon+ Reader is the best for epub, I use it for years the Pro version.
But I've not tried it with very large eBooks.

I don't read or have too many epub titles, but I do have about 10GB of PDF files. I have also found ezPDF and Mantano (I have the paid versions of both) to be very good. Between the two of them, they handle everything that I throw at them. I should add that I use them on my tab...so two-page viewing is my preferred format, which both of them do very well.

How did you Mantano set up with PDF in two-page-view on your tab?

I've no luck with that view on my Sony Xperia S tab ... only ezPDF has that view.

You need to change the scrolling to horizontal. It will give the pages arranged horizontally. You can the magnify each page if you wish, which is what I do most of the time.

yes, sort of two-page-view, but not the nice one that Mantano has with epub ... or ezPDF with PDF.

What I do like in Mantano is that I can zoom each page while still maintaining the horizontal page view. In ezPDF the problem is that you zoom the two pages, you may end up moving the page(s) around. But, I maintain that both are very good options, which is why I use them both...:D

My favorite is the Kindle app because you can read both mobi and pdf files. Also they have one of the largest ebook collections, where you can find great books for free and not have to spend a dime on a book. Furthermore a lot of public libraries offer ebook rentals for the kindle
