Which Micro SD card?

I would like to buy a 256 GB microSD card for my new galaxy note 8. On Amazon they range anywhere from $15 up to $150. Is there a difference? Do I need a Samsung branded microSD card? Or can you tell me which one you are using that is very reliable?

Samsung, sandisk, are some of the more reliable ones. If you see one for $15 i don't suggest you buy it unless it's a good one that went on sale. Otherwise a15 dollar one might last you a few weeks if you're lucky

It doesn't have to be Samsung specifically

Here's some good reading on buying a microSD card:

Even if you don't want their recommended one, there's a lot of good info on card basics and what specs to looks for to get one that suit your particular needs.

And basically, don't just go for the cheapest price. Well, unless you're not too worried about data loss and other problems. Cheap cards tend to be of lower quality and are more likely to fail sooner or otherwise become corrupted more often.

I'm looking for a micro sd for better 4k video, I'm currently using Samsung 256GB evo+ and I'm looking at a card with v60, UHS II rating, is this overkill? I'm thinking about future proofing myself as I may not be a Note 8 user for much longer, this old unit really is rather pedestrian at some tasks now.

I've opted for the Lexar 256Gb 1000x UHSII v60, I surfed a little and did some research and figured as long as you skick with the big names you won't go far wrong, Samsung, SanDisk, Lexar, Kingston, Transcend seemed to be the ones used by pros the most. Didn't see any Verbatim offerings anywhere!
