Help Which model works best with 3rd party apps?

First-time poster, long time Android fan here. I recently had to replace my Galaxy S6 because of a malfunctioning display. It's the same model but it began having issues restarting/resetting itself. I read somewhere that this was due to a problem that this specific phone had with 3rd party apps. I've had this phone for several months now and the restarting issue has gotten to the point where the phone will get stuck in a power cycle. Even after deleting 3rd party apps, factory resetting and wiping the cache partition the phone continues to restart randomly and power cycle for a long time.

I'm currently waiting on a replacement for this phone and have decided to look for another phone to get once my contract expires. So which model would you recommend for avoiding these issues? Preferably a slightly older model that's stable even after warranty. I would invest in a flip phone but c'mon, the apps are the fun part.

Then whatever the problem you had with your Samsung Galaxy s6.... It wasn't 3rd party apps.

If there was a problem running all 3rd party apps from the play store

1 it wouldn't have been released by Samsung
2 Google would have sued them so hard for contractual reasons
3 there would be so many complaints here that no other issues would get a look in.

This may have been the source that I was referring to.

I'm assuming there is a correlation between apps because, in the past, the phone would restart more frequently after installing some or less frequently after deleting others. Plus, some apps would run fine by themselves while opening others would be followed by a reboot or freeze/glitch. But I realize that might not be the sole problem.

Let me rephrase the question. Is there a model that is more stable than the S6?

Are there any older models that have shown to be reliable? I'm concerned that I won't be able to find the information that I need for an obscure problem with a newer phone.

That recommended a samsung repair, so was more likely hardware than 3rd party apps.... It looks like there were some wrong-uns out there...

.... as to compatibility/stability there shouldn't be much between them, certainly at the higher end of the market.

Some of the Chinese ones (Huawei, Honor etc) run a version of android that is tweaked and called Emui.... this isn't a problem normally, but its very aggressive when running apps, which while stretching battery life, can make things a little less predictable.

The article lists two possibilities for the problem (one related to applications). The article did list a technician as the best option for repairs, but I doubt that all of Samsung's technicians exclusively work on hardware. I appreciate your help.
