MY LG G4 (LLollipop) has a variety of tones to signal various events/ But since I'm never looking at the screen when these tones go off, I have no idea what each means. How do i find out?

Help Which notification sound is which?

Hi, this is on my HTC M9, hopefully it will be the same or similar on your LG. Go into the settings of each app that generates a notification and find the 'Notification' setting. It will tell you what the current sound is (In Gmail tap on 'Inbox sound & vibrate'). If you tap on the option it will take you into the list of sounds available. Tap on the current selection and it will play it. You have the option of choosing a different sound.
For mail apps you usually need to go to the settings in each account. This is certainly the case with Gmail and HTC stock mail app.
HTC M9 :- Gmail, Stock mail app, Message app.
