Help Which S5 variant (SM-G900F...) for T-Mobile (USA)?

Hi guys,

I'm interested in buying a Samsung S5 and trying to pick the right model variant (S900F vs S900H vs S900T ...)

I think I am aware of the basics http://androidforums.com/threads/41-galaxy-s5-models-dummies-guide.892162/

- I am mostly using T-Mobile USA
- I prefer to have an unlocked phone, so I don't want to buy the S5 from T-Mobile
- I want to use the phone internationally (Canada, Europe, Japan)

I would normally think a S900F is the model of choice, but have doubts that T-Mobile's LTE will work as expected (see https://support.t-mobile.com/thread/72943).

Any hints?

Thanks,
David

Hello and welcome to Android Forums davidzl :)

I am afraid that there is no, "one size fits all", phone because of the fragmented nature of the carriers and networks, worldwide and you will need to research the carriers in each of the countries you mention in conjunction with each phone model and where your primary use will be.

The T-Mobile (USA) carrier minority variant, G900T, will be OK on some U.S., Canadian, Japanese and European networks.

The worldwide international model, G900F, is OK on European networks and on some Canadian, Japanese and U.S. networks.

If you want T-Mobile, I suggest you get a Galaxy S6 it has band 12 extended LTE. The S5 doesn't have band 12 so if you go traveling a lot or in a area with band 12 G6 is the better choice.

I believe the S900T is most often associated with T-Mobile
