its a long read but I will summarize it...

you know the cellphone towers often looking like trees ? well one of those towers control thousands of frequencys (841 to be more acute) that each operate 4M2 thats 4M squared. this area is called a cell...a cellphone uses this system to work and that's why its called a "cell"phone.

I remember reading an article in Popular Science back before cells phones existed describing the future technology (Yeah, I'm old). They showed a small town overlay with a graphic similar to the one below showing how each tower formed a cell and by placing them at the right distance apart they would form a blanket across an area.

I remember thinking how cool that would be to be able to walk down the street, talking on the phone. We take so much for granted these days. I never had a cordless phone in the house till I was in college.

@erikiksaz
The concept is same .
Ofcourse the Nexus requires Cell tower unlike starcraft :p.
"You must construct additional pylons " is absolutely valid ;)

look at a cellphone this way...see it as a very advanced 2 way radio (Full duplex)...an example of a half duplex is a walki talki...only one person can speak at a time...note a full duplex consists of 2 radio frequencies, that's why 2 people can speak at the same time.
