Help Why am I getting no bars?

Starting about 9-10 hours ago, my phone stopped getting it's normal 2-3 bars, and just went to zero, with the entire icon being blacked out. As a result, I cannot load anything using the internet. My phone is still receiving internet, and the signal strength is perfect. I have 4 other phones in the house connecting and using the internet just fine (3 androids, and an apple), as well as a laptop, a ps4, a ps3, and a roku. There's nothing wrong with my internet. I am using a Samsung galaxy nexus, android versions 4.2.2.

It could be something going on with your carrier. Which service are you using? You're WiFi signal looks strong though. I can't understand why you cannot get online using WiFi even if your getting no carrier service right now.

I think verizon. It hasn't been activated for a long time, and I received it second-hand. Last night, I started getting access to the internet again. Now everything's fine. The icon is still completely blacked out though. I should mention that yesterday I took out the old sim card(verizon), and put in a new one(T-mobile). I was told I had to talk to verizon because they haven't unlocked the phone. They said that could take up to 3 days. Could that have caused it?
