Why Android erased my phone data?

It sounds like someone hacked your Google account and used Android Device Manager to wipe your Phone. Is it possible that you have given your gmail password to anyone?

No. I have not shared password with anyone. Can I find log for any activity in device manager just to see is some hacked or not ?

I don't really know if logs are kept for wiping devices. You might want to contact Google directly about that.

Enabling/using 2-step verification is a good idea too ;)

Indeed it is - except it uses the phone as part of the verification which makes it less useful in the case of a stolen phone. But I use it anyway; I enabled it when I changed passwords after the recent(ish) heartbleed concerns.

You can also make some backup codes as well, which is a table of 10 one time numbers that you can print out and keep in your wallet or something, in case you don't have your phone.

Yes I know. I wasn't really talking about the ability to login without the phone, that's easy. What I meant by "less useful" was the additional security is worthless if it's the phone thief that is trying to hack your Google password.

I like the system though; I also now use a similar 2-step login on my PayPal account.
