Why are my earphones spoiling?

Hi all. To start out with a bit of intro, I have a sonic gear ear pump and a Samsung ear buds. Unfortunately, today one of my earphones spoilt with one side not having any sound. It couldn't get anymore worse when my other one spoilt a while ago.

Ironically, both of them spoilt with not having any sound on one side. This is seriously very agitating as why do all my earphones spoilt all because of this problem. I just want to know what causes this?

You can Google this, but earphones really do spoil over a certain period, accelerated by the handling you give them. Try googling for how to take care of earphones. Plus the Samsung earphones aren't really high quality. You can try looking for 'tough' headphones like the Philips O'Neil line.

I've found that keeping earphones in a pocket is a sure way of killing them and of course, one channel always goes first. I had one pair of cheapie Philips (I think) earphones that did manage to last a while, but even they gave out eventually.

The best option is to store the earphones in the carry case you get with them (or at least, you get with some). Even this isn't a sure fire cure as simply wrapping up the cable can eventually cause issues.

It's not much consolation, but as the previous post says, the earphones that come with phones tend to be low quality anyway so when you replace them, you're likely to get much better sound.

On the downside, if you get earphones with a mic and some buttons, it's unlikely the buttons will work properly. It's not the fault of the earphone manufacturers: since Google didn't mandate standards :stupido2:, each phone manufacturer has done their own thing.

Have you tried another pair? Perhaps your input is faulty.
I use, gulp, the new Apple ones and really like em for just regular streaming. Plus, the price and build seem to be good. Also easier to clean than in ear buds.

Thanks for all the replies. Just to clarify, I keep my earphones in a hard case (pouch) and I handle them with care. But even my old Sony earphones failed on me despite how expensive it was!
