Why are there no themes that completley redo the UI?

So I just registered, and I wanted to ask this question. I'm no android developer, but I can work my way around.

So here's what I'm asking. If you've used an iPod touch or iPhone before and jailbroke it, you probably know about the awesome themes you could get that completely redid the UI like the Windows 7 and OSX themes and such (Using custom wallpapers, icons, and the infamous iBlank). So what I want to know is, with Android being completely open, why can't those themes be easily done on android, and even without changing stuff with iBlank. Why can't we get themes like that, and just have themes that you apply and completely redo the UI.

For example, here's the theme I used on my old iPod Touch before I got my Samsung Epic. Why isn't this already being done on Android?

** Release ** Windows 7 Ultimate

There is a custom ROM project,Miui (think of HTC Sense or Samsung Touchwiz but opensource). It is very muc Check it out on Youtube and go to:MIUI ROM Development
to see if you have a compatible device.

Also, there are themes in the Android Section in the XDA-developers forums such as this one: [THEME][METAMORPH][UPDATED 01/28/2011]Minimal Green and Minimal Blue - xda-developers

Seems cool, but I was more looking for something that completely got rid of the whole Phone aspect of it and did just some pretty cool looking things. I love toying with new themes on my iPod (Or did) but there's NOTHING of the same interest for android

No offense, but that Win7 deal up there looks brutal. Personally, I would never want my phone to look like the OS I'm using @ home all the time.

There are custom Rom's that are themed, you can theme up the dozens of home replacements, change the icons of all of the apps, widgets, etc. Hell, there are even some Windows Phone 7 launchers out there.

If you're looking for something like the link you posted, it probably won't happen.

Dude why don't you just browse through this thread

http://androidforums.com/android-themes/4425-post-your-android-desktop.html

The best thing about android which seperates it from the competitors is that the vast majority of the ui changes can be done without rooting or hacking.

Android is open in the sense that you can go on the app market and literally change major parts of the UI without hacking or imputing codes. You don't like the built in SMS app download a new one same with the camera, media player, icons, launcher and keyboard.

And that's all without rooting. If you do decide to root your device and have programming experience the possibilities are endless. There are a ton of custom android builds out there.

On the market there is literally a windows 7 launcher you can throw on your phone without rooting.
If you want what you posted... MAKE IT :-) go for it dude! If you have the skills you can do it. After you're done post it for the rest of those who want that. I'm pretty satisfied with cyanogen rom ...

You can do it! ;-)

@gearsguy

The more i reread your original post the more dumbfounded I get. Lol i mean really Have you not seen what's in these threads????? Take a trip over to www.xda-developers.com and browse those threads ANDROID IS CUSTOMIZATION. Anybody can post an app. Rewrite the sdk. Seriously! You have to root an iPhone to do even the most basic stock android functions...

Anyway I'm gonna stop dwelling on this thread. Just do me a favor and pleeeeease go to xda and also browse through that other link I posted. Btw I'm writing this from my phone while I'm unzipping a .rar file in the background, while playing music. F*ck apple :-D

I'm definitley not Pro Apple. I've never even bought one of thier products. The iPod Touch was a gift. I have nothing against Android AT ALL, and 100% agree with the fact that Android is so much more customizable and realize that, and I stated that in the original post. I'm just asking why no one has done something really cool and 100% different like this
