Help Why can't I change my Google Play Games ID?

Hi all. For the past few weeks I have been trying to edit my Google Play Games profile name, but every time I do it it says "Something went wrong" and to try again later.

Does anyone know why this is happening and how I can fix it?

What do you mean? You are supposed to be able to change it at any time.

I'm talking about the Play Games profile name, not my actual Gmail name.

I just tried to do it 3 times and 3 times I got the same error as you.

I've tried it on my Android phone and my Fire tablet. Is there a way to do it on a website?

The username you're trying to change it to. At the moment, mine is PulsatingJellyfish81 (or something like that, I didn't change from the default). Maybe it doesn't like whatever you're trying to change it to?

The username you're trying to change it to. At the moment, mine is PulsatingJellyfish81 (or something like that, I didn't change from the default). Maybe it doesn't like whatever you're trying to change it to?

Huh, I added an extra number to it and it worked! Maybe you can't have just a single number at the end, like I was trying to do.

symaticl0er is my youtube and gamer tag on google play. I chose it I had it forever too, think it was before ten years ago..

It worked after adding numbers next to the name.
P. S. I added 3 numbers as I liked it that way but I am pretty sure 1-2 is enough.
