Why can't I send media over texts?!

When I hit the attachment button on the text messaging, and choose a media such as a video...it says error, I think it may say the file is too big also. Pictures or songs do not workers well.

It would REALLY help if you gave us some more information. What phone? What carrier? Are you rooted? What android version? What messaging app are you using? Have you tried emailing the videos? Are you on 3g or wifi? Have you called your carrier about this?

Well how big is the file? There are limits to the size of the attachments for MMS.

  • Pictures, audio, video, etc. are sent by data and not text.
  • Check that you have the correct APN settings for MMS for your carrier under:- Settings > Wireless & network settings > Mobile network settings > Access Point Names. Either contact your carrier for these settings or post the question on the Android forum sub site that is relevant to your handset... or simply Google it!

  • Most carriers have an MMS size limit for messages. Vodafone UK for instance has a limit of 300kb. I use Handcent SMS, free from the Market, as I can set the MMS size manually in Settings.

Unless you provide more details (Handset make/model, android firmware version, carrier, message app in use) then it will be difficult to help you further.
