why can't you access the memory card when connected to PC disk mode?

I was wondering why you can't access the memory card VIA the phone when connected to the PC


Also should I use the eject command in windows to eject the phone?

The card can only be mounted to one device, so that's either the phone or your computer.

You should always use the eject command before removing any external media as there may still be write processes pending which will be lost (and could cause corruption) if you remove the device before it's finished.

I suspect it's to manage read/writes to the SD card. One has no clue what the other is doing to the card.
