If you have no competition it's easy to get stagnant.

That's pretty much my take on it as well. There wasn't any pressure to have a better payout. The members were content with the status quo and I'm betting the PGA has been investing heavily in the market for years. With the onset of streamed sports, their potential income has increased as well. They can't compete with the Saudi league for their pockets can't be as deep! The one thing the PGA has that LIV can't offer is tradition / heritage of the game of golf. Five years should show us if money really talks and BS walks.
