Help Why do I have to click 'load more details' to see full e-mail threads?

Is there a setting that will tell the email client to auto-load an entire email? I don't like having to manually hit 'load more details' to see the entire body of an email or thread. Thanks.

Hi I have the same problem with hotmail and it is also same for gmail account, Samsung Tech help said that is the way it is and nothing can be done!. I did not have this problem on HTC desire.

It's probably some feature to save on bandwidth. I disabled my email app, as I prefer GMail (I only use Gmail accounts) so I can't go through the settings and see if there is a way to download the whole email.

I would suggest a third party email app if the stock one is too much of a bother.

It is very anoying to manualy have to load all details. I have also a galaxy S2 and its loading my hotmail without any aditional user input. In the S3 email program i have to scroll down to the bottom of a email to select load more details to be able to read the mail. Most emails are not text messages but Html mail.

Samsung please change it to load a mail fully. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi,
I had the same problem with my hotmail on my Samsung Galaxy S2 using hotmail.com. - very annoying. I managed to get my account to display emails fully without having to click Load More Details.
1. I went to Settings (main phone settings)
2. Then to Accounts ans sync.
3. I removed my hotmail account.
4. I clicked add an Account.
5. I clicked Windows Live Hotmail.
6.I entered my email address and password and clicked next.
Checked my emails and full emails displayed - hopefully this helps someone.

Thanks, but that only works for people with Hotmail accounts. My e-mail is through work on the exchange server, so this doesn't really apply.

In the email app:

Menu > Settings > choose your account > scroll down to "Size to retrieve emails" choose your option.

I think the default is 2KB, but I've set mine to "All including attachments"

Hope this helps.

Menu > Settings > choose your account > scroll down to "Size to retrieve emails" Doesn't seem to work either. Only one account gives me an "all" option and the other 2 accounts limit it to 100kb. I know there has to be a way to fix this. At least put the "Load more details" at the top of the emails so you don't have to scroll 15 times to get to the bottom of some large emails :p

I didn't have a problem with the 'Load more details' (LMD) behaviour until yesterday when I upgraded my Galaxy S2 to the latest firmware. Now the phone loads the entire plain text version of each message whatever limit I set on size (even 'headers only'), and puts the LMD button at the bottom of the message, meaning a long scroll as noted by Twiztted.

To me, it looks as though the upgrade has broken the intended behaviour of LMD and we'll have to wait for them to fix it. I use Exchange email, so GMail or LiveMail are not an option. Nitrodesk Touchdown shows full emails by default but it costs $20 after the 30-day trial runs out.

The problem seemed to be in the set up, the email account needs to be set up for pop3. I did a little research and ran across this:

POP3 vs. IMAP: Technology
POP3 always downloads all new emails locally to your computer.
IMAP downloads message summaries and doesn't download the entire message until you explicitly select it.

Dont know the detail on how to get it done, but I deleted my account and started over and got it done!

Menu- settings- accounts- add account - hotmail or live..
Then instead of clicking 'next', click 'manual' and it will give you the option of a pop3 so choose that and continue with the instructions.
You will then get far more options to set up and personalise your email.

In the email app:

Menu > Settings > choose your account > scroll down to "Size to retrieve emails" choose your option.

Great thanks! Worked for me, all my emails now load all the details!!
Just make sure you click on your account ie somebody@whatevermail.com, not General Prefrances like I did first time round

Both of these methods (Mrs T and tdmci) worked for me as far as showing the full HTML email without having to push LMD. I didn't know that there was a workaround for the "Load More Details" problem. However, when I use this setup my Hotmail account doesn't show all my individual folders that I have set up in Hotmail and doesn't allow me to move my emails to these additional folders. It also syncs all my emails from more than a month ago even when I change the sync schedule to only a week. So I guess I'll stick to pushing LMD for now.

I have a Galaxy S3 and solved the issue regarding the requirement to click load more details on every email. It has nothing to do with an corporate account (which mine has). After samsung downloading the new version of kit kat, it reset a system setting that was requiring me to click on load more details on every email I wanted to open. I had to go back into the email's account and under the account settings for the email account, choose: sync settings, size to retrieve emails, size to retrieve emails, all. Kit Kat had reset this setting to "headers only" which is why I was having the problem. You can also choose a setting when roaming. Note this will only load more details of new emails that come in. Any emails received prior to changing the setting will still need to click on download more details.

Good luck!

Hi,

I am having this issue too and don't have the "load all" option on the size of my emails...I only have max of 100KB which is what I have selected and I'm still getting the header only emails. I don't even have the "load more details" option that others are seeing. Any suggestions? I'm using a roadrunner.com email

thanks

I have the same problem as jyoung11 on a Galaxy Tab 2. I initially had an imap account and I have also set up a POP3 account as advised earlier in this thread and set the size to 100kb but in both accounts I still only get the header for some emails. In others I can see all the text, embedded .jpg's and attachments. I do not have the 'load more details' option.

Hey all

can someone please assist with a way for me to sync my email so that, when i read the email on my pc, i shouldn't have to read it on my phone too?

Either use a POP3 email client on your 'puter and then go into the settings, find the option to delete the emails from the server once you've downloaded them (or leave them there for a certain amount of time/until deleted) and check the relevant box.
It varies depending on which email client you're using but for Thunderbird:

Tools>Account Settings
then select 'Server Settings' for the relevant account

You will find the options I've described above about half way down.

Or if you use a mail client and IMAP then the emails reside on the server anyway so the options will be slightly different, but if you delete them or move them to a folder other than your Inbox (create one for temporary storage for the emails that you don't want to show up on your phone but you don't want to delete) then they shouldn't show up on your phone's Inbox once you've seen them on your PC.

If you access the email on your PC via a web page ('Webmail') then same idea as IMAP: move them out of your Inbox or delete them and then they shouldn't show up in the Inbox on your phone.

With the last two: if you go immediately from your PC to your phone you may have to refresh your Inbox manually so it reflects what is actually in there as opposed to what was in there the last time it synced automatically.

Hope this helps.
