I was stuck on Android 3.2 for years. I finally gave up waiting for an android OS update and opted to buy a new phone with kit kat 4.4.2.
I understand that google addressed this fragmentation through the google play store. However, it still doesn't update the operating system. It's not wise to use a dated OS especially when it is connected online.
I think they delete new releases of android on purpose to make us buy new phones. That doesn't work on me, I will keep my phone for years or until I am ready to get a new one.
