Why do some really good Android games go unnoticed?

Casual Android users doesn't really search for good games and good games usually are made by just a small group of people that can't compete against other companies in terms of promotion. I myself have to really dig it just to find this unsung gems.

Heck, just right now I can name some top caliber games that you guys haven't even heard of.

Almora Darkosen?
9th dawn RPG?
Pylon?
Partia?

Its sad to see how bad the states of games on Android and I still don't see it changing anytime soon.

I am totally agree with your all points, thanks for suggest.

Maybe lack of good marketing? A good game but does not have a good marketing strategy may fail. But a bad game with good marketing and product strategy may make it to the top. Anyways, here are some of the top 10 Android game picks as of October 2015. Just wanted to share with you guys. Any thoughts? :)

Most J2ME emulators used to play old feature phone (shit phone) games such as doom rpg. One of my fav games before i got an an android phone last year

Well there is over 1.6 milion apps on play store right now so it is really hard to go through all this stuff....

The sheer number of apps make it hard for one to be on top. Also the number of downloads count for a lot, so up to now Clash of Clans is still there regardless of recent downloads and what not. It also doesn't help that some do not advertise or market themselves so that people would know more about them. Some games are just released and they do nothing else but wait for ratings. It doesn't work that way.

As an indie game dev, this thread really nails our struggle on the head. We just don't have the same marketing resources as big companies do. Often times I would look at a top downloaded game and I think to myself, if I were the one to release this game it probably would not get noticed at all.

This may be true, I think there is a lot of really interesting and unnoticed stuff going on, which could sometimes really be helpful, BUT ...
