Help why doesnt pandora radio work properly?

When I use Pandora it plays a few songs and then it freezes until I pull the phone out of my pocket and unlock it, then it resumes as normal. This is a total dealbreaker for me as it is one of the few apps I need to work. I have deleted it and reinstalled it and I have reset the phone but it still screws up. Is pandora broken on this phone or is it broken on all androids? Please let me know if anyone else is having this problem or if there's something I need to do. I do notice that when I unlock the screen that the task bar has to reload every time and the pandora thingy pops up.
 
Seriously, nobody has this issue??? I just deleted it and reinstalled it again, also restarted the phone again. It seems to be working ok for now (ran for about an hour), Ill see what happens in the gym tomorrow as that is when I really depend on it.
 
I've never used Pandora, but looking at what it does, Spotify, last.FM or maybe Tune In Radio might do what you need it too.

I use Deezer, but that's paid (I get subscription free & any data the app uses doesn't cost me anything either as a bonus from my carrier) so you could try that too.
 
During training today Pandora started doing the same crap but I went into WiFi settings and turned on max performance and I think that fixed it. Not entirely sure how bad it is for my battery life but we'll see how it goes.
