Why doesn't the nexus line have sd memory

Google doesn't give you an SD reader because they want you to use their cloud services. High bandwidth/LTE connections make it feasible.

Google sells cloud storage. its one of their products. also they would have to pay Microsoft a license fee to have fat support (for example) in sd cards. Goog thinks the SD card is going the way of the do-do so they are moving ahead with cloud storage.

they give you OTG support and with nexus importer, for example, you can use external storage. i see it as a win-win in my opinion, but we all have opinions and what works for me in my environment may or may not work in yours.

the beauty of this is there are products out there that support built in sd cards so you have a variety to chose from.

How is it a win-win for them to take away the option for cheap removable storage by making you use a cumbersome external device that is not practical to carry around with you?

There are other methods now to use memory cards for phones that don't come naturally with them such as; http://www.meenova.com
So if i where i to get a nexus 6 or the next model coming i can transfer everything or whatever i wish to transfer to the device via the sd reader? Currently i have 30gb of music on my sd card which is my main concern...

Nexus 6 does have a 64GB version, so that could be a possibility.

I have not yet bought the item I've linked, but looked into pretty extensively, and people said it works well.

Google wants you to always be online when using your phone: Viewing YouTube, doing searches, interacting with Play services, etc. If you are watching media offline, they aren't advertising to you or earning from you. That doesn't make them evil, it's just their business model.
