Help Why has my mobile hotspot suddenly stopped working?

For years I've been using apps like FoxFi and such to use my mobilr hotspot because I don't have access to high speed internet where I live (not even satellite). Starting maybe a month or two ago it's been turning off and on when I turn it on. I turn it on and a few seconds later a message pops up asking me to please wait while verifying, then it turns off. Sometimes it turns off and then turns right back on. Is there anything I can do to get it working properly again without having to pay for it? They wanted to charge an extra $65 a month for it which is why I was using apps.

Sounds like your carrier actively disabling or blocking tethering, defeating the apps, because you don't have a tethering plan. Can't suggest any alternatives really, because it could be fraudulent.

They want $65 a month extra for tethering, that sounds like a heck of a lot. Who's your carrier and what plan are you on?

I'm not paying to use a feature on my phone. That's like going to a restaurant and ordering a Cheeseburger and only being brough the burger with a slice of cheese and being told that the bun, french fries, lettuce, onion, and everything else would be extra.

It's a phone feature, but the internet connection comes from the carrier network. Using an analogy, what you're asking for is like complaining why no water is coming out of your house faucet, but you aren't paying for your water bill.

I agree however that the asking for payment for using a tethering feature is a bit of an annoyance (since carriers in my country doesn't ask for tethering fees), the only choice you have that may not have legal repercussions would be to pay up or shift to a carrier that doesn't ask for the fee, or at least is not that strict in monitoring.

Or you could just remove the internet from your phone contract, and get one of those portable Wi-Fi devices. As far as I know, the contracts for those are cheaper and have no limits.
