Help Why is my external SD card useless?

I actually do work on my tablet. At least I did until gamers & tweeters took over the planet. My external SD card is now useless for editing PDF work, or anything for that matter. But my first issue with my 1 week old Acer tablet is that I can no longer work with my PDF's from one device to another thanks to KitKat 4.4.4 'fixing' gaming security issues. Guess I need to abandon play time oriented google and go to a Windows OS tablet.

Depending on the PDF app you use. I have ezPDF and it can still edit pdf files on an sdcard evennon Kitkat.
