Help Why is my lock screen background blurry?

Any time I set a lockscreen background on my Note 3, it is totally blurry. I can view the image in full HD from the image viewer no problem at all, but if I set it as my lockscreen the image turns to utter crap. What is going on here?

I found this answer over at xdadevelopers.

1) Disable the ripple effect in Settings->Lock Screen->Lock Screen Options
2) Go back to the home screen and set your lock screen wallpaper
3) Go back to the Lock Screen Options and re-enable the ripple effect.

Let us know if it works for you Ripley Sawzen.

I have my lock screen set with a pattern, so there is no ripple effect. There is watercolor effect but changing that had no effect on the blurriness.

In an attempt to produce an image to demonstrate the problem I inadvertently stumbled upon the solution. I'd saved my background as a .bmp due to my hatred of lossy compression. Either android simply hates .bmps or the filesize was too large and the file was getting recompressed into crap. Saving as a 24 bit .png removed this recompression.
