Help Why is notifications playing through headphones?

Ok, so this is my first ever Sony phone (Sony Xperia z3). Before, I used to own a Note 3. When I have my headphones plugged in, the notification plays through them. It scares me and I don't like it. I've never had that problem with the Note 3. Is there any way I can disable that? Maybe through an app? Please help. Thank you.

I had the same issue with my dual sim Z3 (D6633): notifications would play through my bluetooth headset only. The problem went away when I changed the ringtone and the notification sounds - no clue why.
