Why is saving photos so difficult?

A0S

Newbie
I just picked up my first android based phone, and am loving it except, and it's a big except, I'm finding that saving photos is a huge chore. I've been using ipones since gen 2, and still have an iPhone 5 as my primary line, so I'm willing to chalk it up to just having to learn a new system, but I'm becoming increasingly more frustrated with the whole procedure. I keep seeing mention of the "long press", but I have found nothing in any presses that allows me to "Save to gallery", from ANY source that I may be working with. There's not even an option to save an image from your mail to your gallery/device. Any advice is greatly appreciated. I love the phone, but as a photographer, and someone who shares lots of photos with friends and family, this may be a deal breaker if I cannot work this out.
Cheers,
~A

To save a picture attachment in an email, click on the picture attachment which will be in the email contents, after which you will he take a to a blank screen where that specific picture will display once it downloads.

Once you see the picture, click on your Android device's menu key, after which you will see options to "save" or "save all".

Which other areas are you having difficulties saving pictures in your Android device?

There's no save to gallery option because unlike an iPhone, Android has a file system management like a PC. Just save/download the picture and it will appear in the gallery under the "downloads" folder. The gallery app is just basically an app that searches all the folders in the phone for photos and videos and displays them. It wont matter where in the phone you download the picture to. For example, in an email, just click on the save attachment button, or in a website, just long press and select save/download image. Once the image is downloaded, you can head straight to the gallery app and its there.

I'm having a similar problem. The solutions shown here don't work for me. I see the email with the attached photo yet the photo does not appear in either the attachments area or in the gallery area. I'm never prompted to save or view picture when I receive it or when holding my finger on the photo. Am I missing a setting somewhere? Any help is greatly appreciated.

This is the regular e-mail app that comes with the phone. I pull off my Verizon mail with this app using a POP account. Thanks.
