Now, you say that when you remove the charger, the device powers off instantly. Whilst it is on, have you noticed any other issues affecting it or does it function correctly?
I'm not familiar with the device you have but does it have a removable battery? If so, can you try using a different one to see if that sorts your problem out? If the device is powering off instantly you remove the charger then it seems to me that the battery is likely to be at fault by not holding a charge at all. I know that some batteries can do this with age so it seems to be a likely cause. Maybe try taking it to a shop that sells the devices or has batteries to fit it and asking them if you can try one to see if that is the problem. Depending on where you are you might find a shop willing to assist if they think they will get a sale of a new battery out of you.
Have you tried a different cable and tried charging it from different sockets and computers? If not, give it a go as it all helps troubleshoot where the problem lies. If the problem persists with a different charger then we can hopefully rule out the charger as being the problem.
With things like this, it is usually a process of elimination by taking things out of the equation until you get a result. I hope you get it fixed!
